Mission: My mission is to prepare young players for the next level of basketball by teaching them the fundamental skills and work from there. I am a firm believer that to be an effective player at any level, you must first conquer the basic fundamentals. Practicing the proper skills leads to faster and higher quality development. I will also teach them to love and have fun playing the game.
Coaches say all of the time that teams are made during the season, and players are made in the off season. Coaches at the Jr. High and high school levels are concerned about one thing: winning! In a 3 hour practice, they probably spend two and a half hours developing the team and thirty minutes developing the player. They have between 15-20 players on a team and cannot possibly work into practice drills to develop each player. That is where I come in. The first thing I will do is establish where they are as a player, determine strengths and weaknesses, and work to improve them individually so they will better fit into a coaches system. And who better to know what to look for than a coach.
I also believe in teaching life skills through basketball. I stress the importance of respect, discipline, hard work, teamwork, and the other life skills important to a successful life! Each person I work with will be a better player, and just as important, a better person.
